If you want to play DOTA 2 now then you'll need get a Free Close Beta Key and you can get one from various gaming websites. In fact, a couple of weeks ago, Alienware Arena gave away thousands of Free Close Beta Keys. For example, someone answered and posted a link in Yahoo Answer but the link is an adf.ly link that redirected to adf.ly's main site. There is also a site where you'll be asked to download a file but to do so you must first complete a survey or an offer.
I've also seen some results that point to a DOTA 2 Key Generator. Be very careful of this because this doesn't work and, if you scan it with an anti-virus, it'll trigger a virus warning.
The safest way, but it may not be the quickest, to get a Free Close Beta Key for DOTA is to visit the official DOTA 2 blog and click on the green SIGN-UP button. This will take you to a page where you'll be asked to complete a survey but you'll need a STEAM account to answer it.
