October 1, 2012 was the date announced in the official website and to participate you must have a Close Beta Key. It's already October 2, 2012 in most parts of the world and that means the Close Beta of Marvel Heroes could have already started.

To get a Close Beta Key, all you have to do is, go to the official website, look for the SIGN UP FOR BETA form, enter your e-mail address and click on the SUBMIT button. Entering your e-mail address doesn't mean you'll get a Close Beta Key immediately but, at least, your e-mail address is in there somewhere.

Marvel Heroes is a Free-To-Play action-MMO where you'll be able to play as your favorite Marvel Heroes like Captain America, Ironman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Thor, Hulk, etc. The game will have a Diablo-like feel to it which will make it more familiar to a lot of players. Of course, it doesn't matter if you are familiar with Diablo or not because Marvel Heroes is a totally different game.
