Universal Monsters Online, Browser Based MOBA, Open Beta

Forget about League Of Legends or even DOTA 2 because Universal Monsters Online is here and it's currently in Open Beta. Universal Monsters Online is a new browser-based multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) published by Bigpoint and it's Free-To-Play.

In Universal Monsters Online you'll take control and play as your favorite monsters from Universal Studios. These monsters include Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, Wolf Man, The Mummy, Invisible Man, Phantom of the Opera, Bride of Frankenstein and others.

Universal Monsters Online plays very much like your favorite MOBA but with some differences. For example, your base or your HQ doesn't produce creeps or, in this game's case, zombies. They appear after killing an opponent player's monster. These zombies will help you destroy your opponent's buildings, turrets, enemy monsters and others.

The game is played by two teams of monsters competing in matches where the objective is to destroy the other team's base or HQ and take the Damsel. Honestly, the Damsel feels more like a Sacrifice and two teams of monsters are competing for her blood. A sacrifice makes more sense than a damsel in distress. Besides, why would a group of monsters save a Damsel?

Leveling-up your monster in the match is very important because it'll become stronger. To level-up your monster, all you have to do is destroy your opponent's buildings, kill your opponents civilians and, of course, kill your opponent's monsters. Killing those trolls that wander around the map will also help level-up your monster.

Victory in Universal Monsters Online relies on how fast you can make your monster stronger than your opponent's monster. If the level gap between your monster and your opponent's monster becomes too large then there's nothing more you can do except accept your defeat.

The graphics of Universal Monsters Online is very nice specially in high settings. Fortunately, the game still looks good even at lower settings. Also, playing in lower graphics setting will give you more framerate specially during encounters with your opponent's monster.

Overall, the game is fun to play and it's easy enough for new players to enjoy. Check it out and, who knows, you might enjoy it too.

By the way, like most MOBA games, Universal Monsters Online also has players leaving or quitting during a match. It sucks because it gives the other team a huge advantage. If you are going to play then play till the end.
